Koffi (Jean-Pierre) Dessou joined the City of Portland’s Office of Human Relations on August 21, 2008, after working for the U.S. Department of State at the American Embassy Lome, Togo (West Africa) for over 16 years. He served as Human Resources Assistant for 4 years then as Manager of the Community Development and the Democracy and Human Rights Programs, and lately as Political, Economic, and Commercial Specialist. For over 12 years, Koffi had been responsible for monitoring and reporting on human rights practices. He worked on promoting human rights through projects designing and allocating U.S. Government funds to non-profit organizations. Koffi also worked on conflict resolution and organized workshops for the U.S. Center for Civil and Military Relations to build good understanding and relations between security forces and civilians. Koffi received training in political/economic analysis, commercial tradecraft, and emotional intelligence from the U.S. Foreign Service Institute, and conflict analysis/management training from the U.S. Institute of Peace. |
